André Souza is an architect and self-taught photographer based in Salvador, Brazil, whose practice focuses on alternative and experimental processes, blurring the boundaries between fiction and documentary.With a background in architecture and urbanism, he investigates how technology mediates contemporary imagery and human environments. His latest project, Solaris, examines the fragmentation of bodies and identities into data, addressing themes of disconnection, systemic failure, memory, and machine surveillance.
His international achievements include being shortlisted for the Belfast Photo Festival (2026), where he previously received an Honorable Mention (2022), and being named a finalist for the 12th Arte Laguna Prize in Venice (2018).On the national stage, he was awarded second place at the 10th Salão de Artistas sem Galeria in São Paulo (2019), recognized as a finalist for the Mário Cravo Neto Award (2019), and received a special jury mention at the Bahia Visual Arts Salon (2014).
